EyeSmart offers health and medical information for topics related to the eye
Information is available for:
* Common eye topics
* Eye diseases
* Symptoms
* Corrective lenses (eyeglasses or contact lenses)
* Refractive surgery procedures
* Ask an ophthalmologist a question
EyeCare America offers medication assistance services
* Online search of pharmaceutical assistance programs to help obtain ophthalmic medications
* Drug discount card that can be used at major pharmacies
EyeCare America provides two eye care programs for eligible seniors and people with glaucoma
Services include:
* Seniors Program
- Connects seniors with local volunteer ophthalmologists who provide a medical eye exam often at no out-of-pocket cost
- Up to one year of follow up care for conditions diagnosed during initial exam
* Glaucoma Program
- Free eye exam to those who are eligible and uninsured
* Apply for a no-cost eye exam
This program does not cover:
* Eyeglasses
* Prescriptions
* Surgical facilities
* Anesthesiologists
* Hospital services
* Fees for other medical professionals

* Not seen an ophthalmologist in three or more years
Glaucoma Program:

* Not belong to an HMO or have eye care benefits through the VA
* Not had an eye exam in 12 months or more
* At increased risk for glaucoma, determined by your age, race and family history
