Offers cash or other short term aid to people in a crisis that is affecting their access to basic needs
Emergency assistance can vary based upon eligibility and available funds.
Additional Information
Provides grant funding for one-time small basic needs to help people recover from a financial setback and return to work
Self-Sufficiency Grants assist individuals and families for two types specific types of expenses:
* Unexpected or emergency expenses that an individual or family living paycheck-to-paycheck could not possibly afford without a short-term hand-up
* Monthly bills that an individual or family living paycheck-to-paycheck cannot afford to pay at the time of their application because of a documentable extenuating circumstance that occurred within the past year
They will pay a bill or creditor, not give money to the requestor.

Eligibility
Low-income workers who are faced with a short-term emergency expense:
* At least one adult member of the applicant's household must be documentable employed at the time of the application
* The primary source of income for each applicant's household must be either income earned from employment or child support payments or Veteran's Benefits; or retirement income (including Social Security retirement benefits)
