Description
Respite provides care on a short-term basis for a person who cannot take care of themselves, and who is usually taken care of by a family member or friend. The service is designed to provide temporary coverage for the caregiver during an absence or need for relief.
Additional Information
Volunteer services offers the in-home and group respite program for caregivers who can not leave their loved ones home alone.
Group respite:
Those receiving care have the opportunity to socialize and engage in interesting and challenging activities, while providing a much needed break for their caregivers.
Activities include:
* Social time
* Speakers
* Crafts, cards
* Gentle exercise
* Games
In-home respite is provided by appointment.

Eligibility
Caregivers of adults who can not be left alone due to age or disability. Participants should:
* Not require constant supervision
* Be ambulatory with minimal assistance (walkers, canes and wheelchairs are acceptable)
* Be continent or have managed incontinence
* Be able to feed themselves
* Be independent in taking medications
* Not have a history of violence to self or others
* Be able to respond to redirection and be able to participate in group activities
